RAKER-MEYER.
A very pleasant event occurred last Tuesday, the 22nd, in the marriage of Miss Minnie Meyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Meyer, to Mr. George Raker of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The marriage was solemnized at St. Joseph’s church, Rev. Loosebrock officiating.
The bridesmaids were Miss Fannie Raker, of Dyersville, Iowa, a sister of the groom, and Miss Minnie Meyer, of Calmar, Iowa, a cousin of the bride. Leo. Meyer, a brother of the bride, and Joe Trum, of Dubuque, a cousin of the groom, acted as best men.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, which was attended by a large company of invited guests.
The young couple left on the evening train for a week’s sojourn among friends and relatives at Dubuque, Dyersville and other places. They will make their home at Cedar Rapids, where Mr. Raker is located with the Iowa Furniture Company.
Relatives from a distance attending the wedding were Joe Trum and Minnie Kuhn of Dubuque, Levi Raker of McGregor, Fannie Raker of Dyersville, F. A. Huber and family of Cedar Rapids, Joe Nick and family of Marengo, Iowa, Peter Meyer and family and Grandma Meyer of Calmar.
The bride is one of Howard county’s best young women, who will make a true wife and helpmeet for the fortunate young man who has won her. The groom made many friends during his residence in the county and we believe is in every way a most worthy young man. The Plain Dealer joins with the many friends of the young couple in hearty congratulations and good wishes.Source: Twice-A-Week Plain Dealer June 29, 1909, FP, C4
