Married.
On Tuesday evening Friday 4th, 1908, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hammond, in this city, occurred the most brilliant social event of the season, when they gave their
daughter Violet Esther, in marriage to Mr. Marcus Oscar Swenson. At the appointed hour the bridal party marching to the beautiful strains of Mendelsohn’s wedding march, played by Mrs. Clyde Mitchell, took their places under a wedding bell of ferns and hyacinths and pink and white carnations.
The bride was attended by Miss Ruth Swenson, and the bridegroom by Mr. Wesley Swenson.
The impressive service of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which made them husband and wife, was pronounced by Rev. John Gammons, the beautiful ring service being included.
The bride’s gown was white crepe de chine over white silk point lace. She wore a necklace of pink termaline, a present from her mother. The bridesmaid wore a dress of silk tissue over silk. The bridegroom and groomsman were both attired in full evening dress.
About one hundred and fifty invited guests partook of elegant refreshments served by young ladies of the High School. The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. George Baker, of Ridgeway and Miss Swenson of Savanna, Ill.
The bride and groom need no introduction in Cresco, both having been raised here. They are prominent in musical circles, Mrs. Swenson having been instructress in music in the city schools for some time, which position she still holds.
The happy couple were the recipients of many costly and useful presents from relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Swenson have worthily won many friends who will wish them a happy and prosperous journey through life.
