An item overlooked by us for our last issue, was the marriage of Arthur F. Goettel, of Cresco, to Miss Nettie Delaney, of Waterloo, Iowa, which occurred on Thursday, January 2, 1908, at the home of Ferd. Goettel at Waterloo, Rev. Baumfein officiating. The young couple arrived in Cresco, which they will make their future home, on Friday evening. The marriage was widely heralded in the state dailies on account of the fact that both parties were not of age and that consent to their marriage was given in both cases by the same parties (the first time such a thing had occurred in the history of Blackhawk County) Mr. and Mrs. Ferd. Goettel, Mrs. Goettel being the step-mother of the groom and also the legal mother of the bride who was adopted by Mr. Goettel when a little girl. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Goettel of course made Mr. Goettel the step-father of the bride. The PLAIN DEALER joins with the many friends of the young couple in hearty congratulations.
