Two Couples of Popular Emmons County Young People Bow to Cupid’s Will.
One of the really pretty and impressive event in the history of this section was the double wedding which occurred at the home of Mr. and Mr. L. H. Sisco, of Kintyre, at 6:30 Friday afternoon Aug. 31st, when two of their children—a son and a daughter—marked the first departure from beneath the parental roof by assuming the bonds of matrimony. The contracting parties were Mr. J. Clinton Sisco and Miss Mattye Roberts, and Mr. Cassius T. Barton and Miss Helen Sisco.
The Rev. John Laman officiated, using the ring service; Master Ian Campbell acting as ring bearer.
At the appointed hour, to the music of Mendollsohn’s Wedding March, played by Mrs. Mabelle Ringeon, the young people, preceded by minister and ring bearer, stationed themselves in the parlor, and in the presence of the fifty or more guests, took the solemn vow that linked their futures. Soft music from Gustave Lang’s Flower Song during the ceremony, together with the decorations of smilax and pink roses, lent an effect of beauty that was indeed indicative of good taste.
The brides were charmingly gowned in silk mull over poplin, wore white veils and orange blossoms, and carried bride’s roses, while the grooms wore the conventional black.
Following the ceremony and after congratulations and good wishes had been extended, Mr. and Mrs. Sisco invited their guests to a wedding supper that was in every way in keeping with the delicate and artistic arrangements that had characterized the event throughout. The repast was served out of doors and Nature seemed to be participating in the occasion for one of her choicest evening crowed the festivities.
After the wedding supper, the parlor was again the scene of enjoyment; Mrs. Campbell of Kintyre, Mrs. McKenna, of Napoleon, and Miss Reta Sisco favoring the guests with vocal solos, with Mrs. Ringeon playing piano accompaniments.
Amid the good-byes of the wedding guests, the happy quartette left that evening on the eastbound train for a honeymoon trip to points of interest in Minnesota, Iowa, and other states.
The many costly and appropriate presents received are evidence of the friendship and esteem in which the newly wedded young people are held by the many friends they have made during a residence of three years in this vicinity.
Two pretty and comfortable homes that have been provided by the grooms for the ladies of their choice, will be the center of housekeeping arrangements upon the return of the travelers.
Besides local guests, the following were present to witness the wedding ceremony: T. J. Ayers, Elma, Ia.; Hon. and Mrs. S. L. Potter, of South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ringeon, of New Salem; H. W. Potter and family, of Mandan; and Miss Esther Barton, of Bismarck.
