12th Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steinmetz, living four miles east of Cresco, thought surely they were taken Monday evening July 2nd, when they beheld the yard filled to overflowing with a bank of rough riders, but it was only with surprise, as their firearms were only the arms of love and friendship, and their ammunition an abundance of good thing{s} to eat and some beautiful gifts for the happy couple, in the hands of an alarming crush of over a hundred relatives, friends and neighbors. The contributors were as follows:
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walton, R. H. Burr, Fred Woelistein, Ed Miller, Herman Mackenburg, D. Baldner, E. Bergman, Dan Farrell, C. D. Taylor, Fred Headington, J. Fitzgerald, Chas. Mandelko, Philip Herold, E. Pollitt, John Anderson, John Crawford, F. Dunneman, Geo. Burgess, Fred Brown, Will Morton, Henry Myers, J. Watros, J. Q. Rowley, Joe Herold, Albert Mackenburg, Will Lusk, Will Frank, John Emslie, Andrew Schafer, Herman Helwig, Tom Norton; C. D. Prinz and family; Mesdames F. Mackenburg, C. Fuller, Albert Fuller, John Humphrey, Grandma Frey; Messrs. Andrew Fuller, Will Frey, Loe Humphrey, Theo. Martin, Harry Howard, Frank Burr, James Howard, Fred Dunneman, Holland Burr, Vitalis Ahern; together with their respective families and friends.
The artist, Mr. Taylor and family, of Cresco, came out and took some pictures for us by means of the flash lights. There was an abundance of music furnished by our young ladies, and Mr. E. Coppins furnished the Graphophone. Five young ladies dressed in white, and carnations for the occasion waited upon the guests. The refreshments were delightful, and a good time for all. We wish the bride and groom many happy returns of the day. Com.
