Wedding Anniversary
Friday evening, May 4th, being the twentieth anniversary of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. John McDermott, their many friends planned a surprise on them, and at 8 o’clock, ninety-nine of them met at the beautiful home, and after all extending congratulations and good wishes, Mr. Bernard McAllister in behalf of those present, as a token of esteem, presented them with a fine bookcase and writing desk combined, and a complete set of dishes.
Afterwards the well filled baskets provided for the occasion were produced, and all partook of an elegant supper.
A very sociable evening was spent in talking, music, dancing and playing games, till the wee hours when all departed wishing Mr. and Mrs McDermott may live to celebrate their golden wedding. Carolan, Frank Kapler, Chas. Kapler, W. Forry, Adolph Kapler, C. J. Vance, Mrs. Wm. James, John Steinman, Dan Drew, John Lusson, Albert Kapler, Fred DeGrave, H. Daws, G. Bartholomew, Thomas James, John Rutsch, Elias Ferry, J. J. Fessenden. Miss Mary McDermott of Mason City, Iowa, also sent them six Japanese china cups and saucers.
