Last evening, Tuesday, June 18, 1901, at the spacious home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Farnsworth, was witnessed a very pretty but simple home wedding. The contracting parties were Miss Mary Farnsworth and Mr. Frank B. Lomas, Rev. J. Ridlington, an old friend of the family, officiating at the ceremony that so happily united the lives of these popular and esteemed young people. The ample Farnsworth residence, standing out in the mantle of the early evening, was aglow with radiant illumination that sifted out through a score of windows, produced a very pretty effect from the street.
The floral decorations were chaste, elegant and elaborate. The early June roses forming a feature of the decorations. The general decorations of the front parlor consisted of pink and white roses, with smilax; the second parlor, crimson and white, with ferns, and the dining room was in pink and green.
The ceremony was preformed{sic} in the front parlor, the atmosphere of which was redolent with the delicate and exqusite{sic} odor of roses and carnations.
As the strains of Meudelshons{sic} wedding march, by Miss Laurane Mead, pealed softly forth, the bride and groom decended{sic} the stairway and took their places near the front bay window, under an arch of smilax, draped with carnations. During the ceremony, “O Promise Me.” Was pleasingly rendered on the piano by Miss Mead.
The bride was exquisitely costumed in white, the delicate sheen of which brought out into pleasing relief the large bridal shower bouquet of roses she carried in her hand.
The friends of the bride and groom were most lavish in their remembrances and a more costly and elaborate array of gifts has seldom graced a wedding in Cresco.
The surprise of the evening was a serenade of the bridal party, by Cresco’s new band.
The mating is a happy one. The bride is an accomplished and refined lady. Is modest, unassuming and cultured in those attractive domestic and social acquirements which all approve and esteem.
Mr. Lomas is one of Cresco’s most prominent and active young businessmen, a partner with his father in the hardware and coal business.
Mr. and Mrs. Lomas took the 9:15 train for Milwaukee, from which place they take a boat around the lakes to Buffalo and the Pan American exposition, expecting to be absent two weeks. They have prepared a cozy little home for themselves and will go to housekeeping on their return.
An unusually large number of friends will wish them happiness and welcome their return.
