Farnsworth-Rathert Nuptials.
Last evening, Thursday, Dec. 29th, 1904, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rathert occurred one of the social events of the holiday week, when Mr. Asa Farnsworth and Miss Clara Rathert were united in marriage, in the presence of about seventy-five friends and relatives. As the bridal march from Lohengrin was played by Miss Lauraine Mead the wedding party took their places in the front parlor under a wedding bell of holly suspended by immense bows of pink and white ribbon. Little Katherine Clemmer as ring bearer lead the march followed by Rev. Gammons who used the impressive ring service during which Schubert's Serenade was softly played. Mr. Farnsworth was accompanied by Dr. John Clemmer, and Mrs. John Clemmer, sister of the bride, gracefully took the part of maid of honor. She wore white silk interlined with pink and carried pink roses. The bride was beautiful in a gown of white French mull over white silk and carried a shower bouquet of bride’s roses and ferns. The parlors and dining room were bright in holly berres.{sic}The color scheme of white and pink was carried out in the dining room, pink and white carnations and smilax were used as decorations. An elegant lunch was enjoyed immediately after the ceremony, served by the Misses Beadle, Rand and Davis. The friends of the bride and groom were most lavish in their gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Farnsworth took the 9:30 train for Chicago. After a week’s absence they will return to Cresco where they will be at home to their many friends. The PLAIN DEALER unites with others in congratulations.
