Wedding Anniversary.
Thursday evening January 21, 1904, a few esteemed friends met at the home of W. R. Mead to assist him and his wife to commemorate an event which occurred in Chautauqua county, N. Y., fifty-eight years ago, at which then as now the twain were central figures. On that occasion there was a large wedding party largely composed of the young persons of the locality. Of them all, but three remain, T. G. Mead of Busti, N; Y., F. J. Mead of Cresco, and a sister, Mrs. A. F. Wilcox of Lansing, Michigan. The recollection of the event of January 22, 1846, was pleasantly recalled by the cheerful words and voices of the esteemed friends who gave their presence at our home Thursday evening. They were Rev. C. A. Marshall and wife. H. E. Lomas and wife, H. W. Young and wife, W. B. Webster and wife, Hon. D. A. Lyons and wife, T. J. Lomas, Mrs. M. M. Moon, Mrs. J. J. Lowry and sister, Miss Nellie Mullin. Light refreshments were served, Instrumental and vocal music by Miss Lauraine Mead and Mrs. Moon. Congratulatory remarks by Rev. Marshall, and “good night” was pleasantly sang by Mrs. Moon, after which our welcome guests of the evening quietly dispersed for their homes, having given the editor a most enjoyable time, and we hope the kind friends were equally as well pleased.
