Married.
WHALEN—MALEK—AT the Catholic church at Lourdes, Ia., on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1902, by Rev. Father Nelson, Mr. Maurice D. Whalen, and Miss Sophia L. Malek.
The above was a very pretty church wedding in which the contracting parties were young people highly respected and social favorites in their communities. The groom is a son of Joseph Whalen, residing near Canton, Minn., and was educated in the Parochial school at Cresco. The bride is the eldest daughter of Lawrence Malek, residing north of Schley.
The bridal couple were attended by Chas. Malek, a brother of the bride, Loretta Whalen, sister of the groom, and by Chas. Ryan and Barbara Chihak and Walter Gossmau and Katie Jinderle.
The ceremony occurred at 10:30 a.m., after which the wedding party returned to the Malek home where a sumptuous dinner was served. The balance of the day and evening was spent by the large number of invited guests in feasting, dancing and general merry making in keeping with the occasion.
The young couple will reside on a farm a short distance north of Plymouth Rock, and to their new home the young couple go with the good wishes and congratulations of their many friends, among whom the PLAIN DEALER family is included.
