The Lomas-Sherbonde Nuptials.
On Wednesday, August 1, 1900, at seven o’clock p. m., occurred one of prominent social events of the week, where in the presence of about sixty friends and relatives, Mr. Ed. Lomas and Miss Maude Sherbonde were unit-{sic} in marriage, Rev. O. H. Holmes officiating. It was the request of the bride, that the entire ceremony be performed to the soft accompainment{sic} of music, Miss Lauraine Mead acting as pianist. To the strains of Mendelssohns wedding, the happy couple took their places udner{sic} a canopy of ferns and palms. Rev. Holmes used the impressive ring service, during which Schubert's Serenade, one of the bride’s favorite compositions was played. The bride was beautiful in a handsome dress of white silk mull; she carried a boquet{sic}of bride’s roses and ferns. The bridegroom wore the conventional black. The parlors were a perfect bower of ferns, palms and pond lilies, while in the dining room, the color scheme was carried out in pink. Immediately after the ceremony and hearty congratulations, an elegant repast was served. The esteem in which the bride and groom are held in the community was made quite evident by the array of beautiful and costly presents. Mr. and Mrs. Lomas left on the 9:30 p. m. train for McGregor, taking the boat there for St. Louis and other points. After an absence of two weeks they will return to Cresco, where they will be at home to their many friends. The PEE DEE unites with others in congratulations.
