Wedding Anniversary.
On the 25th of September 1879, occurred the marriage of Mr. Chas. E. Fields and Miss Hattie Crittenden. The 20th anniversary of this happy event was fittingly celebrated at the home of Mr. E. A. Fields; whereabout fifty of their friends were gathered to await the coming of Mr. and Mrs. Fields who were invited there as they supposed to spend the evening.
The movement was started by friends in Riceville and Cresco and it was a complete surprise to Mr. and Mrs. Fields when they were thus confronted. Light refreshments were served and a most enjoyable time was had by all.
Among those present from away were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crittenden, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Crittenden, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Cutting, Mr. and Mrs. Longley, Mrs. Jennison and Mr. and Mrs. Peavy.
Mr. and Mrs. Fields were the recipients of the following useful and valuable presents; a writing desk, a couch and a handsome chiffioner.
