Iowa Plain Dealer June 8, 1897, FP, C7

On Tuesday morning, June 1st, Miss Lizzie Carey, and Mr. P. Granahan, both of Chester. Iowa, were united in marriage at the old homestead of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Carey. The ceremony was performed by Rev. P. Carey, of St. Peter, Minn., in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives who had assembled to congratulate at the happy union. The bride looked beautiful in her costume of green, with cream trimmings. She has grown since childhood in our midst and is friend to all who know her. Her pleasant face and cheerful ways will ever gladden the hearts of those about her, and all rejoice in the fact that she has chosen for a life-mate a young man of unblemished character who by his industry has builded for his bride a home of which she may well feel pleased. The many relatives and friends evinced their good-will by a rich assortment of gifts, and those who were unable to attend the wedding sent generous reminders of the fact that “absent” means not “forgotten.” The best wish of all who know the young couple is that they may ever enjoy the happiness of which they are worthy.
