Iowa Plain Dealer July 3, 1896, FP, C5
LONG—OWENS—At the Catholic church Lourdes, Iowa, by Rev. Nelson, on Tuesday, June 30, Mr. James D. Long and Miss Essie Owens.
The groom is a son of Lawrence Long, one of Howard county’s oldest and best known old settler’s and the bride is a daughter of Wm. Owens of that place.
After the ceremony the company repaired to the house of the bride’s parents where the wedding reception was held. Dancing, sumptous{sic} repasts and general merrymaking occupied the day and evening.
The PLAIN DEALER extends congratulations and hopes that never a cloud will mar the happiness of those who soon will occupy the fine new house, which with the necessary barns etc. is now being built on the groom’s farm nearly opposite his old home.
