The fortieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. O'Brien was celebrated Feb. 23rd, 1914.
Mr. O’Brien was persuaded to take an auto ride to Creaco to visit with relatives, while preparations were being made for a good time. He arrived home about six-thirty; just in time to join his wife and to greet their many friends and relatives who gathered at their home and pleasantly surprised them by taking possession of the house. Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien made the best of it in their smiling way and greeted the guests with a warm welcome.
Dancing and card playing were the amusements of the evening and all present, had a most enjoyable time.
Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien were presented with two beautiful rocking chairs, a set of silver spoons and a rug which were accepted with many thanks of appreciation. After this a delicious luncheon was served.
The dancers tripped the light fantastic till the wee hours of the morning, when all departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. O’Brien a continuation of their happiness.
