SNELL—CAWARD.—St. Paul, Dec. 21, 1891.
At Oakland Park, Monday morning at 11 o’clock, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Caward, George Ellsworth Snell, a prominent lumber dealer of this city, was married to Miss Jennie Crossman Caward. Rev. H. H. Simmons, of the First Unitarian church, Minneapolis, officiating. It was a quiet wedding, and after the wedding breakfast, which was served at high noon, the bridal party came to St. Paul, where an elegant reception was tendered them by Mrs. H. M. Snell, mother of the groom, at her residence on Dayton avenue, from 3:30 to 5 o’clock. The bride and groom stood beneath a beautiful arch of holly in the drawing room, and Mrs. Snell was assisted in receiving by Miss Snell, Mrs. J. J. Caward and Miss Caward.
On Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 6, Miss Snell gave an informal reception to Mr. Snell’s young friends in the neighborhood. Among those present were the Misses Cornie and Ruth Lusk, Edith Davisdon, Kittie Hubbell, Alice Perry, Julia and Clara Rossum, Messrs. Robert Hubbell, Bert Coulthard, Willie Farwell, Maurice Riley, Gale Perry and others. The entertainment consisted of vocal and instrumental music, Delsarte movements, declamations, etc., after which the ices and wedding case were tested, and enough of the latter secured to “dream over.”—Pioneer Press, Dec. 27.
Transcriber's Note: The last name of the bride is different for the wedding announcement.
