Golden Wedding Party

A few weeks ago was celebrated at their home near Monroe, Wis., the Golden Wedding of Jasper Clemmer, and his wife Delilah Neal Clemmer, who were married in Fayette county Penn., October 13, 1825. The descendants of the family and their offspring comprised a gathering of fifty-nine persons, beside some immediate descendants of the venerable parents who were not there to enjoy this anniversary. From this county there were Dr. J. J. Clemmer, with his wife and three children. From Greene county Wisconsin, came the families of J. N. Clemmer, and J. A. Clemmer, also of John Chryst who married Minerva J. Clemmer, only daughter of Jasper and Delilah Clemmer. The only one of the children not in attendance was Geo. G. of Hampton, Franklin county Iowa, but he was represented at the gathering by his wife and one daughter. Among those gathered there were twenty-nine grand children and nine great grand children. The oldest grand child was 27 years old, the oldest of the great grand children was nine.

There is probably no more joyous occasion in the history of families than the gathering under the parental roof, of the children and the children's children to do homage to the family name, to bless and cherish the venerable heads of a long line of ancestry, and in turn receive the blessing of the noble parents who have marched on, hand in hand, fighting the battle of life, grappling with its vicissitudes, contingencies, exigencies and trials, reaping its rewards in life, and at the ripe old age of upwards of three score and ten standing at the very threshold of the pearly gates to receive the approving words, well done good and faithful servants, enter in and wear the diadem for those who have left upon earth fitting representatives of their own worth and goodness.
