Fred G. Marshall was born in Algonquin-Ill. June 20, 1872. Came to Howard County Iowa in 1884 where they settled on a farm four miles west of Cresco, in the Howard Center Community. He was married to Janet Lockie Dec. 22, 1897 and to this union five children were born. His entire life was spent farming in the Cresco vicinity with the exception of about thirteen years he operated the old Stevenson Farm at Maple Leaf, Iowa. He passed away at Rochester, Minn. Oct. 12, 1939 after a brief illness. Burial was in the family lot at Saratoga, Iowa.
