As previously stated, JOHN MC COOK accompanied his parents to Iowa and after completing public schools he became a student in the Decorah Institute at Decorah, IA. He determined upon the practice of law as a life work and to that end became a student in the office and under the direction of H.C. Mc Carty, of Cresco,with whom he continued until April, 1882, when he was admited to the bar. Afterward he entered into a partnership until 1887, then practiced alone until 1916 at which time he and J E Lyons became a partnership. The latter is now a 1st Lt in the 113th Trench Mortar Battery and is stationed for training at Camp Dodge, Iowa. On 4th Jan, 1888 Mr Mc Cook was united in marriage to Miss Clara E. Webster, a daughter of Calvin F and Serena (Irvine) Webster. Mrs Mc Cook was born in La Porte, Indiana, while her parents are natives of Ohio. Separate listing for Calvin F Webster in Bios. To Mr and Mrs Mc Cook were born three chidren: Allie May, now the wife of C.G. Meredith,of Rochester, Minn, Clara Elizabeth, at home, and Florence who completes the family. Mr McCook gives his political allegiance to the democratic party and was chosen a delegate to the national covention of his party in Denver. He is member of the Council of Defense, Fraternally he is a Mason and his religious faith is that of the Congregational church.
