Submitted to Two Operations Recently-Death Due to Apoplexy-Was About Seventy Years Old.

The death of Elmer Richmond, who passed away this morning about five o'clock at his home here, comes as no shock to the community, for it has been known for some time that his physical condition was such that death might come any time.

He submitted to an operation for bladder trouble at the hospital six weeks ago from which he was able to be about again. Then two weeks ago he was again operated upon and only last Saturday was discharged from the hospital. He seemed to be getting along fine and at one o'clock this morning his daughter was up and asked him how he was and he said he was alright, and again at a quarter past three she was up and talked to him and found him resting well, but at five o'clock she arose and found him dead.

Death was probably due to apoplexy and the stroke coming possibly about four o'clock.

Mr. Richmond was one of our most respected colored residents. He was about seventy years old and had lived here for the past fifty years.

He leaves to mourn a daughter, Mrs. Matilda Williams, a granddaughter, Georgia Williams and a great granddaughter Virginia Green, and three sons, T.T. Richmond of Toledo, Ohio, Guy D. Richmond, and Emanuel Richmond, both of Mt. Pleasant. His wife preceded him in death.

The funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
