Mrs. Mason Dead - Well Known Colored Woman Passes Away Yesterday

Yesterday at her home on Cherry Street occurred the death of one of the best known colored women in the city, Mrs. Alfred Mason. The old lady has long been in ill health owing to her old age, and yesterday a severe stroke of heart trouble was more than she could withstand and death came suddenly. Mrs. Mason was one of the most highly progressive and highly respected colored women in the city and her numerous deeds of kindness will long be remembered by her hosts of friends. She was very old and was at one time a slave in the south. She is the next to the last survivor of a family of eleven children, all of whom have been unusually progressive Negroes. The remaining brother Moses Mosley of this city. The funeral arrangements will not be completed until the children who are widely scattered can arrive.
