MR DAVE FIDLER DEAD - Well Known Colored Man Passes Away Last Evening After Long Illness

Last night about half past eight o'clock at his home in the north part of the city occurred the death of Mr. Dave Fidler. Mr. Fidler was a man of about middle age. He had been a resident of Mt. Pleasant for many years, having been in the barber business at various times and locations. He is very well known all over the city and was one of the most highly respected colored men in the city. Some thirteen months ago he was taken sick with a complication of intestinal diseases from which he has been a losing sufferer up until the hour of his death. Almost everything known to medical science was done to aid him, but it seemed that the trouble was too deep rooted for human aid, and for the last few weeks he has grown steadily worse. The end came quietly at eight-thirty last evening. The funeral service will be held from the A.M.E. church next Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock and Rev. Phillips will be in charge , of Ottumwa. (sic) Interment will take place at Forest Home cemetery. Contributed by Francine Thompson
