Dennis Eugene Ensminger, age 52, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at 11:50 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be held on Friday, from 12:00 noon till 8:00 p.m. at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Friday evening. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Faith Christian Outreach Church with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Following the services, the body will be cremated. Intermet will be at a later date in the Grant Cemetery near Rome. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis Ensminger Memorial, a fund established for his daughters’ education.

Dennis Eugene Ensminger was born October 13, 1951 in Henry County, Iowa, the son of Frank and Marie Anderson Ensminger. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1970. Following graduation, he served two years in the United States Army. He was stationed at Virginia Beach, Virginia. He married Penelope K. Ross on July 17, 1982 in Westwood, Iowa. She survives.

Dennis was an iron worker and a farmer. He was a co-owner and operator of SRV Reinforcing Inc. He enjoyed watching his daughter Mary, cheerlead, Kate play sports, and both of his girls’ other activities and academics. He loved coaching his daughter’s ASA Softball Team; “The Blast”. He also enjoyed his cows, boating, fishing, and his beagles. Dennis was baptized into the Christian faith.

He is survived by his wife Penelope Ensminger of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two daughters, Mary Ensminger, a student at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, and Kate Ensminger a senior at Mt. Pleasant Community High School, four brothers, Donnie (Janet) Ensminger of Mt. Pleasant, Jack (Saundra) Ensminger of Lockridge, IA, Wendell Ensminger of Lockridge, IA, and Randy (Eileen) Ensminger of Mt. Pleasant, IA.. He is also survived by one sister, Janice (Tom) Daniels of Chattanooga, TN.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
