Ethel Heater

Ethel Irene Heater, 78, of Burlington Medical Center, Klein Unit, formerly of Danville, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, at the Klein Unit.

Born Nov. 25, 1918, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Frank and Mabel Nichols(SIC) Pforts. She married Paul Edward Heater on June 28, 1941, at Kahoka, Mo. He died July 9, 1989.

Mrs. Heater was a homemaker and worked for Holiday Inn for 20 years.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include one daughter, Lucinda Heater of Burlington; three sons, Eugene Heater, Mt. Pleasant, Ed Heater of New London and Howard Heater of Danville; two brothers, H.Dean Pforts of Washington and Herb Pforts of Yarmouth; two sisters, Grace Brandt of Burlington and Ruth Fehse of Burleson, Texas, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson.

Visitation will begin at noon today at Elliot Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Heater will 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliot Chapel, with the Rev. Harry Hoolingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in Danville.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
