Mt. Pleasant Daily News, Oct. 14,1904: Obituary: Mrs. Anna
Gardner, wife of Benjamin Gardner and mother of Mrs. Dr. G. M. Jones, of
Wayland, died at her home in Packwood, Friday, Oct. 7, after a short
illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Gardner are well known there and at Trenton where they
had spent their earlier years,moving from Trenton to Wayland, where he
engaged in business for some time and probably some twelve years ago
moved to their present home in Packwood.

The funeral was held from the home at nine o'clock Sunday morning.
Conducted by Rev. Howe of the M. E. Church and at 3 p.m. short services
were held at the Green Mound Church and the interment in the family lot
in the Green Mound cemetery.

A large crowd of sympathizing friends gathered to pay the last
tribute of respect to one who in life had been a mother and friend to all.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out for the bereaved
family and friends in their great trial and sorrow. Mrs. Gardner was in
her 64th year, and leaves besides a brother and sister, a husband, one
son and two daughters to mourn her demise.
