OBITUARY: Wayland News

A funeral for Gary K. Reschly, M.D. of McMinnville, Oregon was held at 3 PM Saturday in the First Baptist Church, McMinnville, with the Rev. Kent Harrop officiating. Private family interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville.

Dr. Reschly died May 7, 2001 in his home from the effects of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He was 62. He was born July 23, 1938 in Wayland, the son of Ralph and Irene Imhoff Reschly. He was raised and educated in Wayland. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1964 and the University of Iowa Medical School in 1968.

He and Susan M. Boudinot were married June 15, 1968 in Davenport.

He completed his medical internship in San Francisco and his residency in Providence Hospital, Portland. He moved in 1970 to McMinnville, where he joined Physicians' Medical Center as a family practice physician. He was a former chief of staff at McMinnville Community Hospital. He won the title of McMinnville Turkey Rama's Biggest Turkey in 1984.

Dr. Reschly belonged to the Yamhill County Medical Society, Oregon Medical Association, and American Association of Family Practice. He was a member and past president of the McMinnville Coin Club. He was an avid woodworker and also enjoyed flea markets. He loved spending time in Hawaii.

Survivors include a daughter, Michele Brantner, McMinnville; a son, Michael Reschly, McMinnville; his parents of Mt. Union (Iowa); two sisters, Joanne Gibson, Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, and Rosi Krogmeier, Mt. Pleasant; a brother Denny Reschly, Mt. Pleasant and a grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife in February; and a sister, Louise Pieffer in 200.
