Kenneth (Kenny) P. Widmer, 62, Forest Grove, Oregon, died at his home on February 12, 2001 of cancer.

Kenny was born August 28, 1938 in Wayland, the son of Paul and Tessie Raber Widmer. On June 28, 1959, he married Diane McNeese. On August 5, 1989, he married Zona DeLay at Everett, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Kenny graduated from Wayland High School in 1956 and attended Iowa State. He worked for GTE until his retirement in 1989. He then worked for Maritime Corp., Hood River, Oregon from 1989-2000. Kenneth lived in the Portland, Oregon and Everett, Washington area the past 35 years.

Kenny loved many outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, scouts, building boats and model airplanes in his youth. His love of boats carried over into adulthood, as he was an avid sailor, earning the title of Captain. His talent to fix things was enjoyed by family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Zona Widmer, Forest Grove, Oregon; a son, Jeffrey Widmer and wife Shana, Welches, Oregon; a daughter, Robyn Ellensohn and husband Michael, Brush Prairie, Washington; a step-daughter, Carol Felker and husband Schism, Gaston, Oregon; four grandchildren, Heath and Paul Widmer, Taylor and Lauren Ellensohn; four step-grandchildren: Nicholas and Chelsea Felker and Ariel and Calla Ouchida; a sister, Carole Reschly, Wayland, and a brother, Chris Widmer, Leawood, Kansas.

A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends Sunday February 18, 2001 at the Homestead Community Center, Forest Grove, Oregon. At his request, cremation ashes will be scattered at sea in the near future.
