Memorial Service for Mrs. Hileman

The Memorial service for Mrs. J.N. Hileman was held at the First Methodist church Friday afternoon at two o'clock with many friends and relatives attending. The officiating ministers were Rev. J.J. Pritchard of Wayland, and Dr. George G. Hunt. Miss Jo Ann Estes sang: "Open the Gates to the Temple" and the "Lord's Prayer." Mrs. Dan Winter played the organ.

Pallbearers were Ivan T. Nelson. Glen Whitmarsh, Walter Bryant, George Rochefort, E.A. Hayes and Vern Wright. Interment was in the Finley cemetery where the Order of the Easter Star read their burial ritual.

Helen E. Yount, daughter of Isaac and Edith Ross Yount, was born July 3, 1901, at Wayland and passed from this life June 30, 1948,in Mt. Pleasant, after a brief acute illness.

She grew to womanhood in the community of her birth and on March 15, 1921, married Homer Stuart. To them were born two daughters, Myrle Jean and Joyce. Mr. Stuart died May 28, 1926.

May 17, 1930, she was married to James N. Hileman with whom she lived happily the past eighteen years.

Mrs. Hileman is survived by her husband of Mt. Pleasant; her two daughters, Mrs. Donald Hoffman of Chicago, and Mrs. Joel Garretson of Salem; five step-children: Mrs. Velda J. Myers of Mt. Pleasant, Everett Hileman of Wayland, Virgil of Mt. Pleasant, Ledru of San Gabriel, California, and Richard of Des Moines. Other survivors are a grandson, Timothy Hoffman; her mother, Mrs. Edith Yount, of Wayland; and a sister, Mrs. Imogene Roth of Wayland.

Mrs. Hileman was a member of the First Methodist church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the White Shrine. At the time of her death she was Worthy High Priestess of the latter.
