HENRY CODNER
Henry Hay Codner was born Nov. 17 1850, West Point, Iowa, and died suddenly, Feb. 1, 1923, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Francis W. Walter, New London, Iowa. He was the oldest son of Job and Hannah Codner.

He was united in marriage to Martha Nugen, February 2, 1872, to this union, two children were born. Mrs. Winifred Steth of Houston, Texas, and Mrs. Francis W. Walter of New London. Miss Francis Steth , is the only grand child. His only brother, John Codner, preceded him in death two years ago.

In 1865 he moved with his parents to New London and had made this his place of residence until the spring of 1905, at that time he located in Starbuck, Canada, where he was engaged in wheat farming until the time of his death . His winters were always spent with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Walter in New London.
Mr. Codner was a member of both the I.O.O.F. and K.P. lodges. Besides the daughters and grand child he leaves to mourn other relatives and many friends his sudden death. Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter where he died, Tuesday at 2:00 o'clock. C.A. Speagh, pastor of the M.P. church conducted the service. Burial was in Burge cemetery.
