Sarah J. Thompson was born March 30, 1852 near Grandview, Iowa and died at the home of her sister Mrs. L. A. Lyman in Winfield, Iowa, Dec. 6, 1910, aged 59 years, 8 months and 6 days.

The deceased lived with her parents near Grandview, Iowa, where she was married to Jessie Browning of Grandview, Sept. 28, 1871. To this union was born three children--a little daughter, the eldest, dying in infancy; the two remaining--John O. of Lone Tree and Florence at home with her father. Besides them, the deceased reared from infancy a little girl (now Mrs. Emma Funk of Fruitland) giving to her a mother's tender love and care, leaving her and her husband and four children to mourn her loss.

She was converted in early life and lived a consistant Christian life. She was of a cheerful, happy, sunny disposition, a loving mother and a devoted wife. She lived most of her life with her family in Louisa county. In 1902 the family removed to Lone Tree where they still reside. Thursday, Dec. 1st., she with her eldest brother went to Winfeld to visit relatives and while at the home of her sister, Mrs. Lyman, she sweetly fell asleep in Jesus, without a struggle or a moment's warning her spirit took its flight, leaving husband and children whom she had so often cheered and comforted to mourn her loss. Besides these she leaves two brothers--Henry J. of Grandview and J. W. of Drakeville, and one sister--Mrs. L. A. Lyman of Winfield, also two grandchildren--Robert and Hortense, children of Mr. and Mrs. John Browning. Thus peacefully ends the life of a noble christian wife and mother.

She will be sadly missed but we bow to the will of Him "who doeth all things well".
