Catherine Cooper was born in Indiana, 82 years ago, and died at Winfield, Ia., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Burge, Friday, January 2, 1914. In 1849 she was united in marriage with W. T. Fix and in the same year they came to Wapello county, Iowa. Six sons and one daughter were born to them, of whom all are living except one son.
Early in life she was converted and with her husband, united with the Baptist church, continuing in its fellowship till their removal to Kansas in 1871, when they united with the M. E. church, of which they continued faithful members till called to the fellowship of the church triumphant.
During a period of about 20 years, Mrs. Fix did a great deal of evangelistic work, conducting revival meetings in Kansas, Missouri and Iowa, preaching with power and sceing scores converted. Advancing years and falling strength necessitated the discontinuance of this work. A little less than two years ago she and her husband came to Winfield to make their home with their daughter, when they received every attention, filiál love could give them. Mr. Fix passed away August 1, 1913. Their separation was brief, and now they are reunited in the "the land that is fairer than day."
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. A. Longnecker at 2 p. m. Sunday, January 4 and burial was in Winfield cemetery beside her husband.
