Wayland News - October 27, 1955
William Schadt, farmer living 6 miles south of Wayland, passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant about 7:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 25th, where he had been a patient for the past ten days.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. this Thursday, October 27 at the Green Mound Church with Rev. Burris Moore of Letts in charge. A quartette which included Roger Wyse, Thurlowe Myers, Dale Richenberger and Dwaine Hirschy sang and the pianist was Mrs. Edw. Wittrig. The casket bearers were John and Lloyd Hinkle, Allen Rich, Dwight Smith, Melvin and Art Campbell. Interment was made in the Green Mound Cemetery. The Zehr funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Schadt, a resident of the Wayland vicinity for 41 years was born December 16, 1889, the son of John and Sophia Ensminger Schadt. He was married to Mary Ridinger February 6, 1913, who survives.

Other survivors include four sons: John of Wayland; Joseph and James of Mt. Pleasant; and Walter or Orleon (sic) Indiana; four daughters, Mrs. Katherine White of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Helen Messer, Mrs. Maxine Farr, and Mrs. Darlene Gholson of Wayland; two brothers, Frank of Mt. Pleasant and Ed of Ft. Lupton, Colorado; and four sisters, Mrs. Sophia Schlarbaum of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Jesse Shuppy, Lockridge, Mrs. Ada Ridinger, Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Anna Calkins of West Chester.
