W.H. NUGEN OF NEW LONDON
New London, Ia, Aug. 6 – William Henry Nugen, son of Jarrett and Melinda Nugen was born in Des Moines County, Iowa, January 6, 1841. Quitting the mercantile business, he engaged in shipping stock and dealing in fine horses. For the past year or two, however, he has been retired. He has made his home with his sister, Miss Lizzie Nugen, the past year, where about ten days ago, he sustained a stroke of paralysis and his condition has been precarious since then, culminating in his death Wednesday morning, Aug 6th, at 2:30 o’clock This continuous residence of seventy-two years in this community, his active business life, with his gentle disposition, made him many friends and acquaintances. He is survived by two sisters, Miss Lizzie and Mrs. Mary Lyman, and one brother, Mr. J.Z. Nugen of Toronto, Canada. All were with him to care for him in his last affliction. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home. Interment in the Farlow cemetery.
