Last Rites for J.W. Austad
Last rites were held for Joseph W. Austad at the Cookes Funeral Home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Alton Koch officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Alton Koch, soloist, accompanied by Prof. Frank Keedy at the organ.
Pallbearers were: William Tyler, Harry Smallwood, Max Rouse, Mark Murray, Howard Myers and Robert Jones. Honorary bearers were Paul Schmidt, Charles Holmes, O.L. Job., Frank Britton, Dr. Wayne Brown and Chris Lenning.
He was the husband of Bertha Heins Austad who survives. They were the parents of Joseph Henry Austad, who passed away in 1948, Carol Olive Fay of Waterloo and Betty Rideout of Redwood City, Calif. Also surviving are five grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Carl, Albert, Clarence, George, Harriet, Clara Swenson, and Alice Louise Austad. Two brothers, John and Gustave preceded in death.
Interment was in St. Alphonsus cemetery.
