RITES NOTED FOR MRS. FRED WATKINS AT NEW LONDON

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Watkins, a former resident of Muscatine, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McDonald Funeral home in New London. Burial was in the Burg cemetery at that place. the Rev. George H. Smith of the Grace Methodist church, officiated. Mrs. Watkins, the former Martha Nelson, died Sunday afternoon in the Memorial hospital at Mt. Pleasant, where she had been taken Saturday.

Mrs. Watkins was born in Rock Island county, Illinois, Oct. 1, 1864, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Neson [sic:Nelson]. She was married to John Wilson in 1878 and they were the parents of four sons, three of whom survive. Mr. Wilson preceded her in death and in 1899 she was married to Fred Watkins. One daughter was born to the couple.

Surviving are the husband, Fred Watkins; three sons, Ben, Ross and John Wilson, all of California; a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Brown of Peoria, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Lucinda Phillips of Muscatine; and a brother, George Nelson, of Davenport.
