Christian Egli Passes Away Saturday A.M.
Funeral Services Held at Green Mound Monday

Christian Egli, 80 years of age, died Saturday morning at 10 o’clock. He had been in ill health since last April and was getting rapidly weaker the last several months.

The funeral services were held at the Green Mound Church Monday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. Meyers of Trenton.

Christian Egli, son of Jacob and Barbara Egli was born in Ontario Canada, June 2, 1850 and died November 8, 1930 at his home near Trenton. Iowa aged 80 years, 5 months, and 6 days. At the age of four, he, with his parents, moved to Jefferson County, Iowa where he grew to manhood.

August 15, 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss Amelia Elizabeth Ross of Henry County. To this union five children were born of which four are now living. After the death of Edward, their only son, they took a boy to raise in his stead.

Mr. Egli lived in the Trenton community for 47 years and was well known. He was converted about 40 years ago and joined the Mennonite Brethren in Christ Church. As a result of his long, consistent Christian life he was loved and respected by all who knew him. He showed his Christian character by his devoted life to the welfare of others. It is impossible to say too much concerning Brother Egli's Christian life.

He was taken sick the latter part of April and suffered constantly until the day of his death and with all his suffering he made no complaint about his lot. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and five children, Mrs. E. L. Roberts of South English, Iowa, Mrs. Clara Smith of Wayland, Mrs. Anna Ross of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Nina Hinkle of Brighton, and Herman Egli of Wayland, 30 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Other relatives and a host of friends.
