OBITUARY - Wayland News: Thursday, May 26, 1927, p.1

"Come look on death. Nay, do not start, this is no scene to chill the heart with sad revoltings."

Mrs. Katy Eicher Miller was born in Washington County, Iowa December 6, 1858 and passed away at the home of her son, Leslie, in South Pasadena,California, Monday, May 16, 1927, age 68 years, 5 months, and 10 days. She was united in marriage to John Miller, November 24, 1881, in Washington County, Iowa. To this union three children were born, one son Leslie A., who still survives, and two daughters, Cora and Edna, both having died in infancy. Mr. Miller preceded her in death January 29,1911, at Wayland, Iowa.

She is survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mary Miller and Mr.B. W. Eicher of Wayland, Iowa, and Miss Lydia Eicher of Tacoma, Washington. Mrs. Miller joined the Mennonite Church in her early girlhood to which she remained a faithful member for over 50 years. Her whole life was lived in Wayland and vicinity until about four years ago when she went to California to live with her son Leslie. Although blessed with every comfort of her new home and surroundings and her many old and new friends she had made and loved among whom were several small children of the neighborhood whom she loved most dearly, she passed away suddenly and peacefully. It was her often expressed wish that she be spared a long illness. A service was held last Wednesday morning in the little chapel at South Pasadena, California by Dr. O.P. Gifford, an old minister whom Mrs. Miller greatly admired and who gave his talk from 1st Cor. 15 Chap. and 1st Tim 4 Chap.,6, 7, and 8 versus, after which the long lonesome journey was started to her old home in Wayland, Iowa, accompanied by her son Leslie who was joined at Denver, Colorado by her sister, Miss Lydia Eicher of Tacoma, Washington.

Funeral services were held at the Wayland Church Sunday at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. W. W. Miller of Pulaski, assisted by Rev. H. J. Schrag. Internment was made in the Eicher Cemetery.
