Mrs. Ben Miller Claimed by Death

Mrs. Ben R. Miller of Olds, 84 years, died about 4:30 Friday afternoon after a few weeks illness. She leaves to mourn her husband, 11 children, 36 grandchildren, one sister and one brother. On February 13, 1939, Mr. and Mrs. Miller celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the Eicher church where she was a member. Interment at the Eicher Cemetery.

OBITUARY:

Mary Eicher Miller, daughter of Chris and Anna Eicher was born near Wayland in Washington County, Iowa, January 6, 1855. Upon confession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior she was baptized by the Rev.J oseph Slagel and taken into the membership of the Sugar Creek Mennonite church. In 1895, after moving to the Noble community, she transferred her membership to the Eicher Emmanual Mennonite Church near Nobel.

On February 15, 1875, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Miller in a ceremony solemnized by Rev. Joseph Slagel. The young couple began housekeeping on a farm near Wayland and were residents of this and this neighboring community all their lives except during the years of 1886 to 1893 which were spent in Colorado due to Mr. Miller's health.

About two weeks ago Mrs. Miller became seriously ill which proved fatal and she was called to her solemn rest Friday April 14, 1939 at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 8 days.

The following members of the family survive to mourn her passing: her husband Benjamin, 11 children, Mrs. Anna Miller and Edward of Olds; David, John, Ben and Mrs. Katie Gray of Washington; Jake of Bellvue, Minnesota; Mrs. Lavina Payne of Wayland; Mrs. Mayme Lantz of Wellman; Daniel of Delhi Minnesota and Mrs. Vera Johnson of Noble; one brother, Benjamin Eicher of Wayland and one sister, Lydia Eicher of Los Angeles,California, 36 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Gray, preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, April 16, at the home in Olds and at the Eicher Emmanuel Church conducted by the pastor Delbert E. Welty and assisted by Rev. Upton of Olds. A quartet from the Eicher church sang two selections,"Faith of our Fathers" and "Shall we Gather at the River".

Pallbearers David, John, Jake, Edward, Daniel, and Benjamin Miller. Interment in Eicher Cemetery.
