DEATH OF J.B. BASS.

J.B. Bass, an old and highly esteemed citizen of Center township, died suddenly of heart disease, at his residence east of town, on Saturday morning last, about 6 o'clock. He arose in the morning as usual, fixed the fire and was sitting in the chair when he was observed to be in some distress, and by the time he could be reached he was dead. Mr. Bass has suffered from ill health for some time, but lately, had so much improved as to be about as usual. His appetite was good and he had several times of late been out in town.

Mr. Bass removed from Shelbyville, Indiana to Henry county in 1854. For several years he was engaged in the grocery business, and has resided in or near town since. He was a man much respected for his strict integrity, earnest convictions and excellent character. For forty years he was an earnest and zealous member of the Protestant Methodist church. When he died he was sixty-five years old.
