Grave rites for C. Ellis

Charles G. Ellis, 79, native of Jefferson county, died at 11 p.m. Thursday at the River Hills Care Center in Ottumwa where he had been a patient the past two weeks. His home is at 613 W. Van Buren.

Grave services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro with the Rev. D.O. Van Dyne officiating. The Vehner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Charles G. Ellis was born Aug. 15, 1902, in Jefferson County. He was the son of John W. and Stella Pierce Ellis. He was married Aug. 5, 1935, at Mount Pleasant to Marie Barnett who survives.

Ellis was a former employeed of the Iowa Malleable Iron Co., in Fairfield; and was a truck driver for Hayes Feed and Grain Co., Mount Pleasant.

In addition to his widow, Ellis is survived by one son, Donald Ellis, Fairfield; and two daughters, Shirley Simmons and Frances McMann, both of Fairfield.

Other survivors include nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Henry Ellis, Keota; and two sisters, Mary Anderson, Mount Pleasant; and Florence Johnson, Washington.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
