Mrs. Emma FREEMAN Emma FREEMAN, daughter of Theodore and Phebe Ann (SMITH) RORK, was born June 5, 1848, about three miles southwest of Mt. Pleasant,Ia., and went to her heavenly home November 27, 1940 at the age of 92 years, five months and 22 days. She was the last of eleven children, her parents, nine sisters and one brother having preceded her in death. In 1866, she and James FAWCETT were united in marriage. His death occurred the following year. In 1869 she ws married to Peter PERRINE. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Ella WHALEY, who passed away on November 4, 1924. Several years after Mr. Perrine's death, which occurred in 1885, she was married to Warren FREEMAN, who also preceded her in death on September 19, 1925. Surviving are six grandchildren: Mrs. Emma SEARS of West Burlington; Mrs. Laura INGELBRIGHT and Mrs. Grace FRICKE and Maynard WHALEY, all of north of Mt. Pleasant; Mary and Harry Whaley of Mt. Pleasant; also six great- grandchildren; four step children and eight step (grand)children; many nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She was tenderly cared for the last years of her life by her granddaughters. Aunt Emma, as she was called, joined the little country (illegible) services so long as her health permitted. Largely attended funeral services were held at the Crane funeral home on Friday afternoon conducted by the Rev. T.C. Jensen, a former pastor who spoke comforting words from the first chapter of Peter. Favorite songs ``Where the Gates Swing Outward Never'' and ``Old Rugged Cross'' were sung by the Rev. and Mrs. T.C. Jensen. Body bearers were Maynard and Harry WHALEY, Pierce SEARS, Harold INGLEBRIGHT, John and Harry FREEMAN. The floral tributes were many and spoke very impressively of the beautiful life of the deceased. -- Mt. Pleasant (Ia.) Free Press, December 12. Mrs. Ira Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Dennis Kittle, Messrs Nellie and Bert Summers of Scotland County (Mo.) with their children and grandchildren mourn a loving aunt who always had a kind smile and loving word for each one when yearly she met with them at their annual RORK family reunion either held in this county or in Henry County, Iowa, where she resided.
