Lawrence V. Scarff

Lawrence V. Scarff, 77, of Mount Pleasant, died at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 1990, at Maple Leaf Health Care Center.

Born Sept. 2, 1913, in the White Oak community near Rome, Iowa, he was the son of John and Lulu Messer Scarff. He married Mary Margaret Ewart Dec. 30, 1933, in Muscatine.

He was in the Navy during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He was district sales manager for Schneiderhahn Company of Des Moines for 33 years. He was a member of the Christian Science Church, Mount Pleasant.

Surviving are his wife, Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Marianna McKee, Long Meadow, Mass.; three sons, David L. Scarff, Mount Pleasant, Ewart G. Scarff, Jonesboro, Ark., and S. Thomas Scarff, Chicago; two brothers, Edwin Scarff, Burlington, and Maurice Scarff, Glendora, Calif.; 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant, with Reader of the Christian Science Church Morton Whitney officiating. The family will meet with friends after the memorial service at Beatty-Wilkins. The body has been cremated according to Mr. Scarff’s wishes.

A Memorial has been established for the Parkinson Foundation.
