J. Wilbur Riley

John Wilbur Riley, 67, 904 East Monroe St., Mt. Pleasant, died at 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, 1977, at the Henry County Health Center.

Mr. Riley was born in Nov. 24, 1909, in New Market, Tenn., the son of William R. and Sarah E. Sellers Riley. On March 12, 1935 at Monmouth, Ill., he was united in marriage to Mary F. Messer who survives.

Mr. Riley owned and operated the Riley Appliance Repair in Mt. Pleasant and attended the Church of the Open Bible.

Surviving are his widow, Mary; two sons, John J. riley and Kenneth W. Riley of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Mrs. James F. (Mary Ellen) Ruschill of Mt. Pleasant; nine grandchildren; four brothers, George A. "Jack" Riley, Paul D. Riley, and Virgil Riley of Mt. Pleasant and Phil Riley of New London; too sisters, Mrs. Bertha T. and Mrs. Nellie P. Connor of Mt. Pleasant.

His parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at Weir-Cookes Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Charles Courtney officiating. Committal services and interment will be held in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call as they desire at the funeral home on Monday, Aug. 29, after 5 p.m. Those who wish may contribute to a memorial in memory of Mr. Riley to the Diabetes Foundation.
