Guy Arnum Messer

Guy Arnum Messer, 89, of rural Mount Pleasant, died following declining health Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Henry County Health Care Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born Sept. 17, 1914, near Noble, he was the son of Arthur Hayes and Elsie Mae McPheron Messer. On Nov. 6, 1937, he married Genevieve Hyde.

Mr. Messer farmed southeast of Trenton for 60 years. He attended Union grade school and was a member of Green Mound Church of God. He enjoyed playing cards and coached softball when he was younger.

Survivors include his wife; one brother, Harold Messer of Olds; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Messer will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Green Mound Church of God west of Trenton, with the Rev. Dennis Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery
