Milo W. Mathews

Milo W. Mathews, 90, of Mount Union, died 8:46 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1987, at the Maple Leaf Health Care Center, Mount Pleasant.

Born Oct. 4, 1897, in Mount Union, he was the son of Emerson and Alma Holland Mathews. He married Freda Roth Aug. 28, 1918, in Mount Union. She died Feb. 20, 1986.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Mount Union United Methodist Church. He was organizer of the Henry County Supply Co-op and was one of the founders of the Midwest Old Threshers Association and was the director for 31 years and treasurer for 25 years. In 1979, he was presented a plaque commemorating his appointment to the position of director emeritus for the Midwest Old Threshers.

Surviving are one son, Stanley Mathews, Mount Union; one daughter, Helen J. Morris, West Palm Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Friday at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant.

A prayer service for Mr. Mathews will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Forest Home Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Zeleny officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
