SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. JAY

Last rites for Mrs. Melinda Ann Jay were held Wednesday morning, May 16 at 10:00, at the Crane Funeral Home. Rev. James W. Marlin, pastor of the First Methodist church, was in charge of the services. Mrs. Max Stein played the organ and Sam Ewart was the soloist.

The pallbearers were George Sterling, Ray Scarff, Frank Scarff, Everett Scarff, Ralph Scarff and Arden Swinney

Mrs. Jay who was born March 23, 1871, at Mt. Pleasant, passed away May 10, 1951, at Oceanside, Calif, at the age of 80 years, one month and 17 days. She was buried in Richwoods cemetery, Henry county.

Melinda Ann Jay, born March 23, 1871 near Mt Pleasant, Iowa passed away May 9, 1951 at Oceanside, Calif.

They moved from Mt. Pleasant several years ago to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Her husband James C. Jay passed away in 1936 at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She and her son have made their home in Oceanside, Calif, for several years now.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Retha Sterling, El Paso, Texas; Mrs. Earl Ford, Mt. Pleasant and one son Clell Jay, Oceanside, Calif. Two daughters preceded her in death, Eva Jay and Mrs. Grace Shellady.

Surviving also are 4 grandchildren, Warren E. Ford; Mrs. Gayle Moffett, Mrs. Fred Moffett and James W. Ford.

Also 13 great grandchildren and one brother Tom Scarff, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and several nieces and nephews

Mrs. Jay was a regular attendant of the Methodist Church as long as health permitted.
