M. Winfred Hunting

M. Winfred Hunting, 80, of rural Mt. Pleasant died at 6:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, at Henry County Health Center.

The funeral mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at St Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Gathering Area of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the family receiving friends following the service until 8:30 p.m. Memorials can be made to the St. Alphonsus Building Fund, Mt. Pleasant Public Library and Henry County Cancer Fund.

Mrs. Hunting was born on Aug 13, 1918, at Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Leo F. and Alice Burns Scott. She married Robert M. Hunting on Feb 15, 1941, at Mt. Pleasant. He died on June 7, 1986. She graduated from St. Alphonsus Catholic High School in 1936 and helped her husband on the family farm the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Alter and Rosary Society and Harlan Questors.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Swanson of Dillon, Colo.; one son, Leo L. of rural Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Beavers of Mt. Pleasant and Anna Lee Scott of Cedar Rapids. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter; twp brothers, Francis and Mark Scott; and three sisters, Ruth Fern and twin infant sisters.
