Mrs. Messenger Died Last Night
Death Comes Suddenly About Ten O'clock --- Was 63 Years Old

Mrs. Nellie May Messenger, wife of John Messenger, died suddenly at her home, 803 south Avenue C, last night about 10 o'clock.

Born in Henry county on January 26, 1875, she was the daughter of Richard and Mary Hinsley Riley, and came to Washington county at the age of two years. On November 23, 1883, she was married to John Messenger, and their home has been here ever since.

Besides her husband, two daughters and one son survive; Miss Stella Messenger, Mrs. Mary Williams, and John Messenger, Jr., all of Muscatine; three brothers, Elmer Riley of Oskaloosa; Dave and Charles Riley, both of Brighton; one sister, Mrs. Rena Fairchild, Gary, Ind.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in the Jones Funeral home, conducted by Rev. M. C. Carstensen of the Baptist church, with burial in Elm Grove cemetery.
