MT. PLEASANT WOMAN DIES--Mrs. Lucretta Chandler, Aged 92, Passes Away
After Long Illness.
Mt. Pleasant, Iowa March 21.-This morning at the home of Mrs. T.L. White
occured the death of Mrs. Lucretta Chandler. She was nearly ninety-two
years of age and was born in Des Moines county, one of the first white
children to be born in the county. She was well known here as "Grandma
Chandler," she having for some time made her home with her daughter,
Mrs. T. L. White on West Monroe Street.
Mrs. Chandler grew up in the neighborhood of Danville, Iowa where she
married and reared a fine family of eleven children, eight of whom
survive her. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Danville,
Iowa. Last October she suffered a paralytic stroke and since that time
has been quite helpless much of the time, her death marking the end of a
long period of illness.
She is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Mayme Kelly of Ames, Mrs. Nancy
Chadwick of Washington, Iowa and Mrs. T.L. White of this city; and five
sons, Everett of Cedar Rapids, Frank, Jim, Will and John of Danville,
also twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and
three great great grandchildren.
Short services will be held at the T.L. White home in this city.
Thursday at 12:30 after which the remains will be taken to Danville
where funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church at two
o'clock, with interment in Prairie Grove cemetery west of Danville.
