J.L. WHITNEY DIES IN ALABAMA
Was Contractor Here For Many Years

J. L. Whitney, long time resident of Henry county, died in Alabama Monday, according to word received from his son, Dr. Richard T. Whitney, who resides at Gadsden, Ala.

Mr. Whitney had been in failing health for many months and with Mrs. Whitney had gone to Gadsden a year ago to reside. He was about 75 years old.

In his years as a contractor, Mr. Whitney built many of the homes of Mt. Pleasant and did much other construction work. They sold their home on North Main Street shortly before going to Alabama to reside.

He is survived by his wife, by two sons, Carl of Washington, D.C., and Richard of Gadsden, Ala., and a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Tenenoff of near Chicago; also by five grandchildren, Richard and Ann Tenenoff, Morton, John and Kathryn Whitney.

The funeral is to be held at Gadsden Wednesday morning at ten o'clock.
